Tottenham Hotspur have been given a major boost after the referee was confirmed for this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa.
The Premier League have appointed their match officials for Saturday’s round of fixtures.
Chris Kavanagh has been appointed as the official for Spurs’ game against the newly-promoted outfit.
And that will be a boost for the north London club, who have never tasted defeat with Kavanagh in the middle.

Indeed, he has refereed three games involving Spurs and they have won all three.
Every game came in 2018/19, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side beating Brighton & Hove Albion home and away, 1-0 and 2-1 respectively, while he was also in charge of the 5-0 thumping of AFC Bournemouth.
Villa beat West Brom on penalties in the play-offs in 2018/19 in the only Villans game Kavanagh refereed last season.
Indeed, across the games Kavanagh refereed involving Spurs, he showed just four yellow cards to Mauricio Pochettino’s players and also awarded them a penalty in the 2-1 win over Brighton.
It paints a happy picture for the club as they prepare for their 2019/20 curtain-raiser.
Spurs have not begun the season with a home game since 2010, when they faced Manchester City at White Hart Lane.
Since then, the club have visited Manchester United twice, Newcastle United three times, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Everton.
Having Kavanagh in the middle only adds to the possibility of Spurs racking up three points on opening day.
