The Chronicle is reporting that Peter Kenyon would be looking to make use of his friendship with super agent Jorge Mendes should he ever assume the rule of CEO at St James’ Park.
What’s the story?
Mike Ashley is currently the owner of the Toon, and remains as unpopular as ever with the club’s fans. In the summer, there had been hope that the Bin Zayed group would complete their purchase of the north-east outfit, but it eventually never materialised.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United chief executive Peter Kenyon was recently linked with a potential bid of £300m, and The Chronicle has been looking at what his plans would be should a takeover go through. They have insinuated that his friendship with Mendes could be put to good use in terms of new signings.
Follow the Wolves blueprint
In terms of transfers, Mendes is one of the biggest names in world football. His close relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo is well known, and his client list includes a whole host of famous footballers.

He already has previous with English football, too. A number of the players he represents have moved to Wolves, for example. They have benefited massively from the Portuguese, with Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Diogo Jota and Rui Patricio all having joined the Midlands outfit having been on the books of the 53-year-old’s agency Gestifute.
Should Kenyon manage to buy Newcastle, he could use his friendship to oversee a similar influx of players to St James’ Park. Newcastle, arguably, would be an even better attraction than the side from Molineux. The club’s stadium, for example, is one of the biggest not just in England, but Europe as a whole, whilst the fans in that part of the country are famous for their exceptional support. The city of Newcastle, as well, has more going for it than Wolverhampton, which would also be of interest to players.
It can often be hard bringing in quality stars when not being part of the elite, but that has not been a problem for Nuno Espirito Santo and Co. Newcastle are often called a sleeping giant, and have not won a trophy since the 1969 Fairs Cup. Kenyon and Mendes could help the club live up to its full potential.
