Cheslea and England star Lauren James has claimed that the Lionesses are entering 'a new era' as they prepare for the Euro 2025 in Switzerland. Head coach Sarina Wiegman led her side to the trophy in 2022 and is hoping that her Lionesses can go back-to-back this month despite the team having seen a number of major names step back from international duty.

England have been a force to reckon with for quite a few years, with names like Leah Williamson, James, Millie Bright, Mary Earps and Fran Kirby, among others, leading the lines. However, the Lionesses are set to head into the 2025 Euros without the latter three senior players.

James, who suffered an injury with England in April, may have frightened a few folks, as her fitness for Euro 2025 was questioned. However, she is back and looking to help the Lionesses defend their title in Switzerland. She also added that England are entering a 'new era' with a somewhat new look side.

Speaking to The Guardian, James said: “It’s not really about defending a title because it’s a completely different team. This team’s got a lot of youth in it and this will be some people’s first big tournament.”
She also described the feeling as “a fresh start, a bit like a new era” and “hungry girls wanting to do well”
She concluded: "We’ll just take it game by game and hopefully have momentum and the belief of the fans and everyone in the country behind us.”

Wiegman has one more friendly to go before the start of their Euro 2025 campaign when they face off against Jamaica. They begin their title against France on July 5 at Stadion Letzigrund.
