were first to report that the 22-year-old could miss the rest of the season after suffering an ankle injury in United training ahead of this weekend's trip to Tottenham. The club later confirmed he had sustained an issue at their Carrington base.

While the 22-year-old did not confirm his season is over, he said he faces "some time" on the sidelines, writing on Instagram: "Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season.
"Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury.
"I will come back stronger than ever!!
"Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for."

In a season of turmoil, Amad has been one of the few positives for United. With the Red Devils having nothing to play for in the Premier League, their attention will have turned to winning the FA Cup and Europa League. But that task became a whole lot harder without the Ivorian.
