According to The Metro, Everton have initiated negotiations with Manchester United over a deal to bring Marcos Rojo to Goodison Park in January.
What’s the story?
As per the aforementioned report, the Red Devils are willing to offload the Argentine defender in order to raise funds for the purchase of a new centre-back.
Rojo is yet to feature for Jose Mourinho’s side this season, though, the 28-year-old has been struggling with fitness concerns in recent months that have significantly limited his capacity for first team involvement.

Since arriving at Old Trafford in 2014 for a fee of around £16m, the 59-cap international has made over 100 appearances for United without ever being able to establish himself as a first-choice regular at the back for the club.
A switch to pastures new would likely be the best thing for Rojo at this stage and Everton represents an ideal destination for the versatile defender.
A smart start to the overhaul
Marco Silva will already be considering the future make up of his defensive contingent with the likes of Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and the on-loan Ashley Williams all ageing, and Kurt Zouma’s temporary loan stay set to end at the end of the season. The Toffees’ manager will be planning something of an overhaul at the back.
Landing Rojo in January would be a great start to this process and would create further competition for places in the second half of the campaign. With a Transfermarkt valuation of just £16.2 million, he could be a relatively affordable acquisition too.
