Defences did, however, hold firm for the most part, with Cleworth impressing once again for the home side. The 22-year-old has been billed as a Premier League star of the future, with his plan being to reach that level with Wrexham.
WHAT PARKINSON SAID
Phil Parkinson is delighted to have Cleworth at his disposal, saying of his composed performance against the most expensive player in League One history: “I've got to give Max a mention playing against a £12-15m player. A lot of people were talking about Jay Stansfield ahead of the game but maybe we're talking about Max Cleworth after the game. I thought he handled him brilliantly.”
