Sheffield Wednesday have been in poor form lately, but they won their second game in 2020 this week, beating Charlton 1-0.
It initially looked as though the Owls were meandering towards another goalless display at Hillsborough.
Prior to their game against the Addicks, the Yorkshire club had failed to score in any of their previous four home league matches, and after 94 minutes against Charlton, it seemed as though they were headed for the same outcome.
Garry Monk’s side played well against the London club, they had 24 shots compared to the London club’s six, but they just couldn’t finish their chances.
However, that all changed late on as Steven Fletcher made his mark.

The Scot made just his second appearance after his return from injury and he came back with a bang, netting a 95th-minute winner to secure the three points for the Owls.
After his last performance, we stated that the £1.8m-rated striker was only adding to Monk’s woes, but it seems as though he was just warming up against Birmingham, as he showed exactly what he’s about on Wednesday.
This goal wasn’t like any of the 13 Fletcher has scored this season, a last-minute winner to end a run of over 360 minutes without a home goal at Hillsborough could be a huge lift to everyone at the club.
The pressure was mounting at Wednesday, but all of a sudden things are looking up, losses for Brentford, Bristol, Preston and Cardiff this week have left the Owls just eight points off the playoff places, and a run of results from now would put them back in contention.
Monk’s side were lost without their top scorer, winning just once after he was sidelined, but he has returned and put them straight back on track in the best possible way.
This goal could be a massive boost for everyone at the club, acting as a huge weight off everybody’s shoulders.
After such a poor run, it was difficult to see where the next win or the next goal would come from, but Fletcher’s strike has answered those questions.
In other news, one summer signing has been letting Sheffield Wednesday down.
